clean the affected area with cotton soaked in betadine solution. allow the solution to dry and cover the wound with a sterile bandage. avoid contact with eyes and nose; rinse the affected area thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact.

most common side effects of betadine solution are burning, itching, irritation and redness. most of these side effects do not require medical attention; consult your doctor if they persist or you are worried about them.
