Ematra Softgel Capsule consists of the active ingredient Tretinoin. It is the preferred choice of treatment for Acute promyelocytic leukemia, which is a subtype of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Acute promyelocytic leukemia is a type of blood cancer that is a result of chromosomal abnormalities (chromosome 15 and 17).
Inform your physician if you are on other retinoid medications like isotretinoin, acitretin and tazarotene. Avoid consuming soya and peanuts while on this treatment. Report to your physician immediately in case you experience breathing trouble, severe headache or mood disturbances.
In acute promyelocytic leukemia, the chromosomal abnormalities occur due to movement between chromosome 15 and 17. When these chromosomes move, the genes involved in it fuses together and forms cancer cells. Ematra Softgel Capsule prevents the formation of the fusion genes and decreases the spread of cancer cells.
