Emquin syrup is usually given to children who have difficulty swallowing the tablets/capsules. The dose and frequency of emquin syrup depend on the age and body weight of the children.
Give the medicine to your child exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss the dose even if your child feels better. Do not stop the medicine unless told by the doctor. You should give the medicine with food. The most common side effects of emquin include visual disturbances, itching, deafness, ringing in the ears, myopathy, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, hepatitis, skin changes, anaemia, convulsions, decreased blood pressure. If the side effects persist or worsen, then inform the doctor immediately.
Should use the emquin syrup with caution in children with eye problems. Monitor behavioural changes of the child regularly. Do not discontinue the medicine without the doctor’s advice, as it may worsen the condition. The child can develop anaemia while taking this medicine. So, should give iron-rich foods.
