Suminat tablet is a selective serotonin receptor agonist, 5ht1 agent used to treat acute migraine headache. It works by acting on the swollen/dilated blood vessels in the head by narrowing them and prevents the transmission of pain signals to the brain and simultaneously restricts the release of chemicals that may cause nausea and other migraine symptoms. Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor but do not exceed 300 mg over 24 hours.
The most common side effects are chest discomfort, flushing, muscle weakness, neck pain, burning sensation, tightness sensation, dizziness, numbness, paresthesia, vertigo, pain in throat, malaise, cardiovascular problems, gastrointestinal problems, splenic infarction, hypersensitivity reaction, neurologic problems and ophthalmic problems.
This medication may cause sleepiness at the beginning of your treatment, so do not drive or operate machinery. This medication may also cause changes in your mood and feel depression. Therefore, regular monitoring of behaviour is important. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you had any medical conditions such as heart problems, severe liver disease or kidney disease, had a history of seizures, using any medications related to migraine headache or any antidepressants.
Inform your doctor if you have a habit of smoking/ a heavy smoker, or using any nicotine replacement therapy and if you are pregnant or thinking to plan a pregnancy and a lactating mother.
